Default Plaisted projected as going to the Jazz with the 44th pick

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2...-Round2-080623

I think he got bad advice to go early. He isn't a well-rounded player at this point (though his argument appears to be that he wouldn't be any better due to poor coaching at BYU if he stayed another year).

Going 44 isn't great if you give up your last year of eligibility.

He was probably a 2nd round pick next year too, so why waste another year when you're already married and essentially have your degree?

I think he could have worked his way into the first round, and in the NBA there is a huge difference between first and second round contracts.

Do you think there is another college in America where if your wife was picked up driving under the influence it would have made headlines throughout the league and then opposing schools would have made fun of your wife.

As much as Plaisted thought he might have a chance in the NBA, I agree with you, I think he had had all the fun he could at BYU and wanted to move on with his life.

Has he really argued that? I haven't been able to keep up with sports news very well lately and am very interested in that.

I would say yes.

But the first task is to find another college in America where players are married and have a wife.

They had a jazz scout on sportsbeat sunday and he said Plaisted should have stayed in school another year, that he needs more polishing.

IF Trent could learn to face up to the basket.....

IF Trent could learn to take a 10-15 jumpshot.....

IF Trent could learn to play defense......

IF Trent could learn how to use his body better in the paint....

IF Trent could learn how to take a shot without releasing it from his hip double pumping while a guy who's 6'4 just blocked the shot of a guy who supposedly has a 40+ inch vertical......

Then he'd be a first round draft pick,,,,but he has none of those....Trent is not 1st round talent at all.
