The last BYU bowl that met all your conditions was the Cotton Bowl. The LV bowl has always been played before Christmas and most of the time the opponent is the #6 Pac 10/12 team. So what. It's always fit the definition of a crappy bowl to me. And if you actually like the LV bowl to play the sixth P12 team, we can go to it this year.

For me, the #1 criterion is playing a P5 team.

The bowl matchups are getting worse, not better. You can see that over the years it was almost always P5 teams.

Back in the old days not many non-P5 teams went to bowls. So with more teams in bowl games, there are more non-P5 teams that need opponents. Still it shows the bleakness of being a small-time independent. You get a crappy bowl.

This is a college football problem in general. P5 teams just don't play teams outside the P5 in bowls. That was a very clear purpose of the BCS when it came onto the scene, and why they locked up all the good ones. The #6 Pac 10 team isn't usually that great opponent anyway, but that is what we had in the MWC. But if we have a decent year that's where we'll go this year. If not there, then Hawaii. ESPN decides since they own both.

Ok, so then the bowl this year won't be crappy? Chances are it will be the Las Vegas Bowl against a Pac 12 team.

Coulda shoulda won that game. Some questionable coaching decisions that I didn't like in the 2nd half....but oh well. Maybe next year.
