Default Embarassing Statistic: Sat. was Mendenhall's biggest Come-from-Behind Victory (14)

And that was in the First Quarter!

Which means if you're up on BYU by 17 and it's the third quarter, you've buried them already.

A typical Bronco-led team is one that starts better than it finishes. I've long felt that Bronco starts with one plan and never changes.

So this season has been a little bit unusual. Slow, bad starts with better finishes. I can't explain the difference.

Better adjustments? Better conditioning? Really bad coaching in the beginning of games?

I'm not giving the games a lot of thought. Recording them and watching them by skipping the dead time between plays.

Bronco changed what they were doing defensively against Cincinnati after a couple of series when it wasn't working. Then it was nearly lights out against a good offensive team that beat Miami. Cincy isn't better in the W/L record mainly because their defense isn't very good. On offense BYU started off slow because Mangum was favoring his hamstring too much early in the game and it was causing him to make bad throws. When he stopped doing that after the first quarter, and especially after halftime he was also lights-out. Anae or someone probably pointed that out to him. He was probably playing in pain after that, but he was very good once he returned to the right mechanics.
