Can it be said stake presidents have larger families than average? How many "normal" people in your stake have at least one son who was a complete a-hole?

Or are you just watching stake presidents' children closer?

I'm reporting a fact based on my sole empirical experience.

It may not be true in general.

But I don't hear anyone disagreeing with me.

Well, what constitutes being an a-hole might vary from person to person.

P.S. Was or is your dad a stake president?

Does anyone know if Indy is an only-child?

As per Archaea below regarding one of my questions below earlier in the week...I refer him to his own hypocrisy regarding the question he posed in this thread.

Way to set up a strawman, Rocky. Proper dialogue requires the questions be phrased intelligently with a point.

Your refrain, in that you detest intellectualism without understanding it, is tired.

The tensions of administrative leadership who must govern the masses from the center versus intellectuals, who must help define theology, for purposes of helping persons during times of trial and discovery, are healthy.

We do not need a purely intellectual leadership, we need pragmatic leadership, with an eye to rational thought, empirical observation and faith.

In short, I reject your dichotomy as meaningful. It is a stupid, asinine question, unworthy of response.

The children of folks in prominent church positions inevitably endure more scrutiny than those who don't, and that's normal and expected.

While most of them are likely good people just like and you and me, they are human too. Some don't like the pressure and rebel as a result. Some like the attention and garner a little extra pride. And some handle it with grace. I've seen all kinds.

Good to know we're all just human beings.

I expect to inherit a mission presidency someday. Hopefully in the South of France. My dad was in Africa, and I think it is my birthright that I will get an upgrade.

Along that same line, why would any one want to be a mission president? Three years away from friends and family trying to keep track of 200 19 to 21 year old kids. Seems like a huge responsibility for most who are old enough to dream of days of just spending them on the golf course.

No one in their right mind wants to be a mission president. It's got to be one of the toughest callings in the church.

I don't know of anyone who lobbies for the job.
