Default How much money does the church give to charity?

I was reading a bloomberg (?) article about church finances, and if I am recalling the figure correctly, the church gives about 0.7% of its revenue to charity. They compared a mainline protestant denomination (Methodist?) that gave over 20%. They also said that the church's spending on the downtown mall project in SLC dwarfed the charitable spending that happened combined over 25 years (2 billion vs. 1 billion).

So I was reading last night about how Obama visited church leaders and how the church was extolling its spending on charity.

Is there something that I am missing? Like maybe the Bloomberg article isn't correct in how it calculates the %?

Churches in the Dallas area do a lot of charitable work. Heavy lifting. Running homeless shelters and the like. Mormons have no idea.
