Default President Monson is easy to like

Talk after talk, year after year, he tells the Church what he's learned through Christian service.

He weaves literature, theater, and sometimes art into his talks. He's obviously well read.

He doesn't wade into controversial topics and hasn't been dogmatic about his doctrinal ideas. At times he seems to deliberately say things in a way that leaves them open to interpretation.

I've heard that he's very businesslike in his manner, but that can be good too.

It's good to see that in the last year or two he's lost a few pounds. Stop giving him cookies and pies! Frances, don't let him have that second helping!

I just wish I didn't feel like he was reading his talk during sharing time for the junior primary.

Most people need things put to them in simple terms. Myself included.

I can always listen to Monson, knowing the man has served people well. I also pray people stop feeding him too well. Perhaps we can find him a good trainer to keep him around for another thirty years. When we lose GBH and Monson, we'll become even more corporate. The personality of the Church is changing but we're losing the personalities of the Church.

I think it's likely we'll see one or more short-tenure prophets out of Packer, Faust, Perry.

I actually know one member who doesn't like him that much. She has mullah-ish tendencies I would say and I never could figure out what wasn't to like about him.

There is a professor here at my schoo. Teaches the residents a bit, very gregarious.

So I approached him about obtaining some reference material, and he just totally shot me down.

I realized that he is gregarious in front of a group, but a little bit of an butthole one on one.

Not saying Monson is like that (have no idea), but the previous comment reminded me of this guy.

I've met Monson in person. He was the same as you'd imagine he'd be. He seems to genuinely like people.

I am a huge Monson fan despite my lack of belief in the church. His tone of voice does sound like he is talking to a bunch of kindergarten kids, yet he doesn't come across like he's talking down to his audience. I've never met anyone else that can pull that off.

I have to disagree with your statement about becoming more corporate. It seems to me GBH is the driving force behind the corporate image. It would be hard for me to imagine that anyone else could be more corporate.
