It's the only thing I have seen in the treatment of mentally ill patients that wowed me, in terms of its rapid beneficial effects.

Yet, it is also the most stigmatized and feared.

There certainly are some dark depressive episodes that people would trade some of their memories to have removed.

A friend of mine said shock treatment saved his life, but he still deals with some of the aftermath, memory-wise.

Mike knows A LOT more about this than I do. You body uses chemicals (chemical imbalance) to create electrical impulses. Your nervous system, brain is a large collection of insulated electrical generators that give you thought, reason, personality, emotion, etc. and the nerves act as conductors for the electrical impulses.

The basic though behind the electrical shock therapy is that the shock is equivalent to hitting the "oh shit" (reset) button on a computer, reseting the computer back to the factory settings. For some people this can be curative for others it is a temporary fix.

Thank goodness there are people like Mike who deal with people with mental problems, they are very real and cause a lot of morbidity. Unfortunately these are rarely cured by my trade, surgery.

Anytime you want I will fill you in on all the details. BYU went 14-1 and Army went 10-2...my college football life has been all downhill since then. In fact Army has beaten Navy twice since then, '98 and '01.

Muirbrook had a great year and his performance in the Cotton Bowl was the most dominating I have ever seen a BYU defender.
