Robert Smith is also no Julio Iglesias or Billy Ray Cyrus, either.

Mick Jagger may run around a lot in tight stretch pants, which can be exciting for some demographics, but I prefer the music to the stage show. If I want to see an over-the-top stage show with gimmicks, flashing lights, and video screens, I go see U2.
He just seemed uncomfortable on the stage. I don't think he moved more than an inch any any direction during the whole show and his face was buried in the mic.

Even without all the props, lights and gimmicks, Mick Jagger owns the stage. He's obviously comfortable in front of the crowd and carries himself like there is nothing he loves more. On stage Mick and Robert are extreme opposites. That was my only comparison.

I know, I was only teasing.

You are 100% correct. A decent argument could be made that Robert Smith basically inspired the term "show gazer," esp as it is used to describe a certain core of music today.

He has always been this way. I saw the Cure in high school.....for the old Kiss Me 3 tour.....same story. They all stood there, you could barely see their faces because their hair covered everything, etc.

You go to a Cure show for the music, not the spectacle, that is for sure.

No, he's not. And I'm glad that he isn't. If he was, The Cure wouldn't be The Cure. It's all about the music for me, not the showmanship.

When did you see The Cure in Salt Lake?

I was in college, so I think it was 1996.

I missed that show. last time I saw them was in '92.

I think it can be said that only fans of The Cure have a good time at one of their shows.
