EuroSport just interviewed Lance, who is in France for the Alps. Two things stood out:

* He said he wants to see the top spot on the GC stay with the U.S. and that he would be happy if Landis brought it home. He said Landis is the obvious favorite right now.

* When asked if he had met or planned to meet with Tour officials, he begged off, saying he would rather spend time with his fans.

Menchov looks beat, as does Evans.

Sastre, Kloden, and Dessel look to be the main competition for Landis.

Eurosport was saying that Hincapie seems pretty down, even with Lance coming to cheer on Discovery. After today, I expect he is even more down.

Eurosport caught Landis taking a "nature" break on the climb up the second mountain.

Landis looked very strong, not at all like it hurt him as much as it hurt the others. Maybe it's just his game face. After the race he said that they were not as concerned about getting the yellow today, but nice to have. They want to take as much time as possible from the competition.

2+ minutes up on his primary rivals. Tomorrow should be another great stage.

If that's a game face then I'm impressed. The guy didn't even look like he was trying.

I agree. Wherever Kloden went today, there was Landis. Then at the end, he whips out and beats Kloden to the line just to drive home the point. All this on a bum hip.

Landis appears to be talking a lot also. What is he saying? Is he taunting the others in their misery?
