Default Life is cruel to old guys

Today reality sank in.

I have been running very poorly, feeling weak, but today it really sank how badly I'm doing.

We have a new young couple in our ward, who do triathlons. He does halfs and is a good cyclist. So I invited him on my long run. He ran right with me and I was not strong enough to blow him away.

He's twenty years my junior, but it was humiliating that I cannot blow somebody away. My running is really, really pathetic right now. I melted the other day doing 10 400ms at a measly 86 second pace.

Does anybody have research on strengthening running as mine has gone into the toilet right now.

There is probably no advice that I can give you that you don't already know. But what if you took a week off? Just rest and let your body and mind recover.

I doubt it's overtrained, or over the hill, but sometime in May I experienced a power outage and haven't recovered it.

I think it's a sign that you should give up all together and fedex your bike collection to me.

That's the whole point! I don't want to pay for it. I can pay for bikes anywhere.

What do you think I am? A charity?

I'm a charity as long as you donate to my favorite charity, Archaea's retirement fund.
