Music Night consists of taking out a large tupperware container that is filled with inexpensive, small musical instruments that I have purchased....everything from a harmonica to a small floor tom to maracas to a cool xylophone. Everyone spends a few minutes just making all kinds of noise. Then I bust out a real guitar and that LDS Primary Hymn book and we will do some of the primary songs that they know. It is easy for me to play on the guitar and they get to play their one instrument along with the hymn.
They are getting into the concept of hitting the drum or xylophone at the right time (in rhythm) but are in no way prodigies.
I am hoping to get them into some musical instrument soon, though. Maybe in the next year? At least expose them to it.
I even bought a few recorders for our tupperware container. I still love to bust out Yankee Doodle Dandy on the recorder.

Those are some good ideas there. I may have to steal.
