First, Congress needs to pass a law that prohibits anyone from collecting monetary damages related to slavery. Then, when that law has been constitutionally affirmed, then they can go ahead and pass some apologetic resolution.

So 150 years later, you'd support my heirs suing the doctor's heirs? I think every crime has an implicit statute of limitations.

In the long run, this is the real tangible concern. The rest is just "on principle" as they say.

What's that? They'd rather stay in America? Hmmm.
What is wrong with you?

No matter how you slice it, the story of Liberia is a very, very sad one.

Dude- what do you expect when you post something as racist, arrogant and downright stupid as your post?

Some posts aren't even worth dignifying. Like yours. It is offensive, racist and ignorant. The fact that you don't recognize any of those facts is appalling and sad.

Not worth dignifying, yet you can't help yourself.

Show some self-control.

I have no problem with the U.S. Government formally apologizing to those who were forced to endure slavery and I would support such a measure.

When the Illinois Legislature passed a measure of regret for the forced expulsion from Nauvoo, President Hinckley mentioned it in General Conference and said it indicated a change of attitude toward our people. I am hopeful that an apology sanctioned by Congress would communicate the same message to those who have endured centuries of persecution in our country.
