Beware indeed.
You mean like the congressional elections of 1990 and 1992 which were fairly static too prior to 1994? Beware indeed.

There is some serious irony here.
The Republicans need to bide their time, find a unifying candidate with some charisma and they'll be off to the races again, as the Dems show they are terrible in finding good national candidates. The reason: their policies always cater to the lowest common denominator, and never look at broader scope.

They will always do well in local elections but once they need broader reach, their stringent desire to be ideological will hamper any other benefits which they have garnered.

If I see a groundswell forming like 1994, I'll be sure to let you know.

No that's just your sexual attraction to Obama, and the rise is coming from you, not from anybody else.

I hear a loud splat! sound. I'm thinking Dukakis in 1988.

is that under Obama, he could unreparable damage by introducing another entitlement into an otherwise over entitled government. and those never go away.

The only thing I regret about the Dukakis crash is that I was done with school and had left the northeast behind me forever. It would have been fun to see the faces of all the pinheads on campus who attacked my character and political beliefs.

That would be marvelous and Cali's senses would never be the same. Finally, he might come to his senses and become a bit more rational and skeptical. He might even start to think like a Republican and live the great Georgetown grad he has hidden within himself.
