I think it is like the reading of the letter last month....supposed to happen on the same day, but wound up happening on different Sundays.

None. But we have had a presentatiojn in scarement meeting byt he stake president and also by a HC (on separate weeks) and more lessons are coming.

Wasn't that before Christ abolished the lower law and instituted the higher law? Why not read the chapters about an eye for an eye while you're at it?

On a separate point, this whole Proposition 8 fiasco reminds me of the struggles many church members had with polygamy years back, or so I've read. To many spouses, the idea of adding a third wheel to their marriage was horrifying. But they were told, polygamy is the higher law, it is God's will, and the truly righteous will obey, putting God above themselves and their loved ones.

Today, with the compassion and friendships we have formed with same-sex couples, we are essentially being told to turn our backs on them and prove to God that he is #1.

Our diety seems awfully insecure.

I have friends here I'm trying to help. I haven't really been to church except for funerals in like twenty-five years. Does that clarify things?
