What color is the sail on your board? It would be cool to get a sail with fun colors or patterns.
you just further betrayed your noobness. Windsurfers maintain a "quiver" of sails. Because you need different sized sails for different conditions. That's what makes the sport so expensive. Multiple boards, masts, booms, and sails. Most windsurfers have a trailer to haul their equipment in.

Compared to surfing, it is a rich man's sport. But compared to golf, not so much.

I think you are right. I can almost feel the speed jumping out at me!

I'm a noob in windsurfing, but I have clocked just under 30mph. And I have crashed at that speed, which is not fun.

You have to start somewhere.

So do you use these arrows while windsurfing?

Also, do you wear a cooley hat, like the guy in the pic above? I would imagine you could get a bad sunburn zipping across the lake all day.

I wear a helmet. Don't have to worry about sunburns. you go so fast, the sun is not so strong, it doesn't catch up.

Agreed. Anything Laird does is pretty damn cool.

On a side note, I was driving out to Tooele for a meeting the other week and saw two guys wind surfing in the shallow water on the south side of I-80. These guys were hauling butt too. I thought those guys were crazy. The water had to be nasty Great Salt Lake water. It couldn't have been deeper than 3' in any given area. And there were telephone poles and other stumps throughout.
