Being at the series remains one of my unfulfilled dreams. The AZ and TN fans will make the championship series a passion filled event (you know, kind of like Sunday School on a hot Sunday morning). Are you going?

um, no. Softball is less exciting than baseball and baseball is wayyy off of my sports-interest radar.

Stereotyping lives on at CG - and I thought this was the last bastion of enlightened thinking! Seriously, I cannot speak about this topic in regards to the WNBA. My college softball experiences did not include even the hint of any outwardly lesbian behaviors - either on our teams or our opponents. There is a big difference between womens and mens sports teams. For the most part, members of womens teams truly like each other as teammates. We compete hard but refrain from the immature taunting of our opponents' family, religous and ethnic backgrounds (see mens' sports).

Certainly there were no cliques of which you refer.. I would think that you of all people would recognize an overblown fantasy perpetuated by uneducated male sports fans.

That softball players would be lesbians is not a fantasy I have. Au contraire, I prefer to fantasize that they are "available" to me.

On CG we don't necessarily endorse stereotypes. We explore them and discuss them. We are anti-PC that way.

Certainly you were glued to last night's NCAA Softball Championship? Arizona beat Tennessee 5-0 in a great game. AZ proved that sometimes good hitting can beat good pitching.

As a former ball player, I resent that you say we men taunt. I prefer to call it gaining a psychological advantage.
