Default Arguing Apostles

Eyring once gave a fascinating description of how apostles vociferously argue with each other and often start a discussion with 15 different opinions and then somehow compromise on a single decision, in what Eyring termed "a miracle."

I have to think that pretty much everything the top 15 decide happens in this manner. Makes it hard for anything other than incremental changes.

Consensus building with "diverse" opinions takes time and change takes even more time.

But if all direction comes through revelation than the diverse opinions of 15 individuals should not slow down the progress of change. If progress is hindered by differences in personality and opinion the source of the leadership and guidence would be called into question

An argument against that is as follows:

If inspiration only follows arguing and working it out, then you could still refer to the process as inspired.

I was always taught that contention and arguing drives the spirit out..... No spirit no inspiration

You were taught that "bickering" with antagonism was of the spirit of contention. Arguing, meaning discussing and laying for premises and conclusions, is not bickering.
