Excellent finish today (spoiler)
Cavendish of Team Columbia gets the stage.
That final 20 k was exciting, almost beautiful in a way.

Can you imagine how that poor French Schmuck felt when, after being out front for about 200ks he was swallowed up by the peloton with about 50 meters to go? Encroyable! I was rooting for him just because it was such a noble effort. Then I realized it was perfect for the French because, as they French like to point out "we're not as bad as they say!" Not good enough to win, but not as bad as we thought. Perfect.

Also, Phil is as bad as me. He kept saying Cavendish had led out his temamate and persisted even in the face of how silly that sounded until someone pointed out that Cavendish had actually won the stage. Oops.

It was almost the perfect finish, the peleton ramping it up to catch the leaders for an all out 20 kilo chase, Columbia leading the way, the leaders ramping it up in response, swallowing them all up with less than a kilo to go, no time for the stupid sprinter games, just one big rush at the end, and a guy that speaks French with an English accent winning out. It was cool.
