Best Pizza Place
In a take-off on the desert island/genie/fast food place thread, what kind of pizza place would you choose?
I classify pizza joints into two categories: chain/fast-food and custom. Chain/fast-food places are places like Dominos, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, etc. By custom I mean those places that have relatively few locations. In Utah that means places like The Pie, Wasatch Pizza, Connie's, etc. Chainwise, I would rank them as follows: California Pizza Kitchen Dominos Papa Johns Pizza Hut Little Caesars The only place on that list that I would say has "good" pizza is CPK; but pizza is like sex: even bad pizza is better than no pizza at all. For "custom" I would rank: Pier 49 Connies (Chicago style pizza) The Pie (I like the pizza. The problem is that I always wonder whether the stoners behind the counter might have accidentally dropped some doobie ash onto my pie) I've heard Wasatch Pizza is good but I've never tried it. Someday I want to make a pilgrimage to Pizzeria Uno in Chicago and to Lombardi's in New York. |

Navole's Pizzaria in Draper is my personal favorite. There is only one size of pizza there - a 20 inch pizza. I believe the cost is $12 for a cheese pizza and $1 for each additional topping. You can also buy it buy the slice.
For those of you whoever ate at the Navole's Pizzaria that was on 39th and Broadway in Manhatten - yes, this is the same place. The original owner's grandson is the coach of the US Bobsled team. They train in Park City and he talked his grandpa into opening up a place in the SLC are in order to get good New York pizza out here.

I like, scratch that, love, Sicilia Pizza on Broadway right next to the Broadway Theatre.
Nothing better than buying a slice of pizza, a BBQ chicken sandwich (the best I have ever tasted), a cup of water with awesome small cubed ice, and catching the latest cool indie movie. |
