Any idea if David Archuleta's dad flies back and forth between SLC and LA every week? I think he's been in attendance every episode, so I'm curious if he's become self employed to manage his son full-time or what.

Previously you mentioned that the dad created the "Imagine" arrangement for David a few weeks ago, which was awesome. I've been wondering if he's also responsible for the two poor song choices David's made (the Stevie Wonder/Beatles song two weeks ago, then this week's song that no one has heard of). Not that you'd know, but thought I'd ask.

I don't know this kid, but I'm getting the feeling that he's been paraded around the country singing since he was very young boy. I wonder how much he actually likes it.

They've got an apartment near the Idols studio where he and his Dad are living in for the duration.

I heard somewhere that the contestants who are under 18 have to have a parent with them. So my guess is that dad is livign with him in Hollywood while mom is home earning rent.

Thats not a bad gig.

They used to film the Hollywood rounds at the Orpheum, which is on Broadway and not a great part of downtown.

Now I hear they are filiming in Fairfax at Television City. That is a sweet area....tons to do, lots of places to eat, etc...

I'm not sure, but my guess would be that the elder Archuleta is staying in LA with David because David is a minor. If that's the case, my guess would be that AI is footing the bill.

I've heard that David chose those songs all by himself. His dad is a hardcore jazz guy and has a disdain for popular music. And he wouldn't even give the Pogues a try when I offered to let him borrow their greatest hits CD.

As for David going around the country at a young age to perform, I haven't heard that, but I would doubt it. Knowing his parents, they are not the type to do that - but I could be wrong.

I do know that David loves to sing for audiences, be it AI on tv, residents of a retirement center or at a ward party.

His dad is getting hammered by the entertainment press. If it weren't for your assurances, I'd assume he's an overbearing prick. Mr. Arch is in a tough predicament as he's bound by contract not to do interviews. He can't defend himself while the wolves are tearing him apart.

According to Mrs. Archuleta, her husband just ignores what the entertainment media has to say because he considers them the type that went into that kind of work because they weren't good enough to be real journalists.

I just know that the Jeff Archuleta that I have known for a number of years is not the one portrayed by the sycophants that stalk the celebrities. He just happens to not want them to harass David.
