Naked Mormon Women Project
Forget pants day, September 6th, they should be excommunicated for grossing me out.
http://jezebel.com/mormon-women-brav...vie-1473018815 Normal people (non-Mormons) with those body types wouldn't pose naked.

Chino, how can you expect the Lord to bless you with a good-looking wife when you are burning your retinas with these images?

There is a long history of this kind of project.
For example, the Dove soap "real women" thing is a version of this. I think Leonard Nimoy had a gallery showing of nude women who were supposedly more representative of body types out there in the public. After all, more than 1/3 of adult Americans are obese. There have been nude projects related to breast cancer, mastectomy, other kinds of cancer. None of that was designed to titillate. Now imagine that someone came up with "Amish women naked project". Would that be some kind of revelation? Or important? Do we need Amish women to finally embrace their bodies in such a way to feel like we have moved forward? Or would it be kind of dumb? Perhaps the best response is a "good for you, I hope this helps you." And then to yawn. |

I think something that would be much more thought-provoking would be a feature film that is really true to Mormon culture that had a meaningful nude scene. When I say meaningful, I mean something that was important to the plot that makes the audience consider something important. Not necessarily sexual.
I have no idea what that would be. Nor am I arguing that it is necessary. Me having mentioned Amish women made me think of the movie Witness. That contained a nude scene that was very pivotal. But not everyone might like it or think the movie was important nor the scene necessary. |
