Default The Bleachers by John Grisham

Near the top of my best sports books list. A must read for anyone who ever played high school football in a small town...

I played football in a big town. I read it last Christmas on a flight from Utah to DC. It was enjoyable.

I Am Third is one of my favorite sports books. Friday Night Lights, Moneyball, They Call Me Coach, Tuesday's with Morrie (Not really about sports, but Albom is a sports columnist), Bang the Drum Slowly, and most anything by George Plimpton. Matt Christopher was all I read as a kid. Great juvenile sports literature.

Moneyball is one of the best sports related books ever written. I loved it.

Another good baseball book is "Baseball for Brain Surgeons and Other Fans" by Tim McCarver.

George Will had one of the best quotes ever about books written about sports. He said something like:

"The smaller the ball, the better the books that have been written. There are some excellent books about golf. There are some very good books about baseball. There are no books about beachballs."

As a youth i read every Matt Christopher book out there and hope my kids enjoy them as much as me. My favorite is "Look whos playing first base"

My favorite was "The Kid Who Only Hit Homers."

My other favorite as a kid was "The Basement Baseball Club." I read that book so many times the cover wore out and tore off.
