Brandon Flowers, lead singer of The Killers.

Although an active Mormon himself, in the past Flowers has smoked cigarettes, behavior prohibited by the LDS church's health code. However, he has said that he belongs to a "very tolerant gathering."[4] In an August 2005 interview with Rolling Stone, Flowers mentioned trying to cut back, and as of November 22, 2006, Brandon gave up smoking by using a chamomile concoction prescribed by a German doctor (Flowers says it's good for his voice).

On August 5, 2005, Brandon married longtime girlfriend, and high school sweet-heart Tana Mundkowsky, in a private ceremony in Hawaii.[3] Flowers met his future wife at the Las Vegas Urban Outfitters where she worked before The Killers achieved any major success. The two dated for approximately four years before she converted to Mormonism and the two married. The two are expecting their first child, a boy, in July 2007.

Very clearly this implies variation in Mormon "gatherings" and local leadership.

The tent in Vegas (?) is large enough to include Br. Flowers (or "Elder Flowers" in grapevinian). I'm glad.

We are much more tolerant here than in Utah, that is all.

I'm glad he's married and has skirted on the edges of traditional Mormonism; in other words, didn't serve a mission. Such experience apparently weenifies our rock stars.
