Yes and no. I've done quite a bit of work amongst the poverty stricken white Appalachians of central Ohio and that's largely my reference point. I've seen three generations living in the same house, nobody having held a real job in their life. Heartbreaking and infuriating.

It would be interesting to see how a black president could help his community. If I truly thought Barack Obama could accomplish a culture shift in the AA community, promoting self-reliance and proper family planning, I would give him a real look.
