So what you're really saying is, your perpetual personal pissing contest aside, you really have no factual basis on which to dispute the accounts I've posted.

What I'm really saying is that there is no point in refuting or proving the accounts you have stated. They are totally irrelevant. Even if accepted as true, they don't provide insight as to whether or not the detainees are treated well (for the reasons already listed), let alone what level of due process they should be receiving.

You may as well post "Detainees at Guantanamo say their favorite color is blue, like the sky." Neat.

That makes no sense. If for the sake of argument you accept them as true, then they very much provide insight into how well they are treated.

The question of due process is entirely separate and has nothing to do with why I posted these quotes.

That makes no sense. The only "reason already listed" you gave was that the person is a prosecutor (with the assumed intent of casting doubt on the truth/objectivity of the account). If for the sake of argument you accept it as true, then that destroys your only complaint, not to mention very much providing insight into how well they are treated.

No, it doesn't, other than to paint what could be a very incomplete picture. Saying you give people a soccer field and basketball court isn't the same as saying you treat them humanely. I could beat a detainee within an inch of their life and still let them eat in the nice cool weather on the world's nicest soccer field. So? The beating kind of makes the rest of it pretty lame, if you ask me.

Is there abuse at Guantanamo? Who knows. This administration is absurdly secretive about conditions at Gitmo. Why?

Of course, that assumes what the prosecutor says is true. But why should I take a prosecutor's word for it that everything is great?

No, that isn't the only reason I listed.

It doesn't destroy my "only complaint" either (I only have one?). See my last post.

What is the point of this thread? "They maybe shouldn't be there at all, but hey- at least one prosecuting attorney thinks it is pretty nice over there, so let's not get bogged down about due process!" Sounds pretty hollow, and Gitmo still doesn't like a place I would want to vacation, despite your best attempts.

That post has nothing of substance related to the point, which is ...

... that the Gitmo detainees are not being tortured, abused, or otherwise mistreated. In fact, for enemy combatants who would slit the nearest American's throat if they could, they are being treated quite well.

Your continual attempts to distort this thread into a referendum on the legal issues surrounding their detention, or as a discussion of Gitmo as a vacation spot, demonstrate your lack of thought and/or facts on this point.

It DOES have something of substance related to the point (however pointless your point may be). Reread it and apply thought.

Ooh. A prosecutor says the detainees aren't tortured.

Well, there. You've convinced me.

The woman's occupation is fair game in considering her motives, as far as I'm concerned. The public is obviously welcome when weighing her stories to take her perspective and slant into account.

That said, do you have any substantive reason to doubt her?
