Also, why not let Hill play a style that would prepare him better for the next level and has a much better chance of keeping him from getting hurt again? To paraphrase something Ty said today, he won't run as much but they will still run sets that will open things up for the entire offense because the defense will know he's a threat to take off. Think more like Steve Young.
I was thinking more like Mike. Run him as much as he wants, then put Mangum in when he's injured.

They're going to run a passing offense where he still has options to improvise and run when it's there. You don't have to create a "read-option" offense to make him very effective. He can be a good passer, and he needs to get really good at reading defenses in the passing game and trusting his arm at least as much as his feet. In the past he has never fully developed his skills in the passing game because he always knew he could just take off running. That won't be as easy at the next level.

Also, you can spread the field just fine without being a "spread-option" offense. I hate the option game for a QB who has a good arm precisely because it's hard to keep QB's healthy. I don't think the coaches should treat him like a disposable commodity just because Mangum is there to take over after Hill kills himself running wildly in game 1 or 2.

I doubt Hill will play in the next level. He's inaccurate and can't read defenses.

Hope he proves me wrong, though.

At last we're not arguing about putting him at RB like they were doing on CB.

Lots of athletic QBs get a look though if they have the athleticism. His injuries will limit the number of teams willing to gamble.

We ran the West Coast offense back when our receivers were a lot slower and we didn't have a speedy tailback.

Taysom might be a great late-draft pick. Like the Patriots taking him in the 6th round. He has some upside. But age, injuries, lack of pocket skills all go against him.
