of one of the players on (one) of the baseball teams I coach is singing on American Idol tonight. The kid's name is David Archuleta.

I will be watching this show for the first time ever. Well, he sings someone in the house will tell me that he's on and I'll switch the channel.

He is actually a pretty impressive singer for a 16 year old.

I'm just enjoying watching Rocky tell people to watch AI after he's hated that show as much as I have since its existence. He knows the same kid.

He's a good kid. His dad is a helluva jazz trumpeter.

He did a good job. My wife said that it's rare for Simon to like someone. I guess she'd know, as she always watches this silly show. Good on David.

Back to the History channel for me.

Well, our homeboy Archuleta is kicking butt and taking names. It's pretty funny to watch this shy, humble little mormon kid blow everybody away. He is head and shoulders better than the other contestants.

He did great last night. As I've mentioned, I had never watched the show until last week. I guess that Simon told him that there are 19 miserable opponents is rather telling, eh?

So you folks know, his dad wrote the arrangement of Imagine that he sang.

Yes. Jeff (the dad) writes a lot of arrangements of songs for David to sing and for his other son, Daniel to play on the guitar. Jeff is a very talented musician.

Someone emailed me this video of him singing to the contestants during the show's first year. He looks very young and sounds like a woman but man, he can sing.
