Default Walton has been reinstated

Don't look for those on this board or other boards to apologize for saying, there has to be something more. No apologies will come from those who assailed the fathers credibility. I really doubt anyone is going to take back their slams on Jay Drew.

As a matter of fact, there will be some who will still claim there has to be something more and this is evidence of athletes being treated different.

Justice and sanity have prevailed. This is great news.

No kidding. I wonder how much he thought about not even trying to go back to BYU.

Wow, the message has been sent. If you go to the media, bad publicity can cause Jesus to change his mind about an ecclesiastical endorsement.

Of course, we already knew that. Image first. That is the BYU slogan.

Oh brother.

You need to make up your mind, Mike. Were they wrong in the first place, or are they wrong now? You can't have it both ways.

There will be some interesting undercurrents that will go on. There is a reason the SP told the father not to make any waves. Unlike most places where you feel you may have been wronged and want to speak out, it is taboo to do so if the church is involved. You just don't embarass the church.

I think that mentality is fading amongst members. Whatever the reason, the culture of keep your mouths shut is fading.

It will be interesting to see if there is any backlash from the academia or ecclesiastical folks at BYU. BYU is not unique in it's clash between academia and athletics. What is unique at BYU is there is the added religion element.

You are dreaming if you don't think there are ardent opponents of BYU athletics in both groups. I don't see it as a battle of good and evil, but of different views philosophically. The trouble when you have religion involved is the element of "God agrees with me" enters in.

If I were a BYU coach right now, I would put my kids on high alert.

Did this kid and his father sustain his church leaders?

If not, then is what they did appropriate (talking to the media)?

I like BYU sports for the most part, but frankly, I don't think BYU should exist. To me, BYU is like the church building a mall in SLC.

Can you define what sustaining a church leader means Mike.

This is a fascinating makeover you are attempting here, Mr. Courage. Think anybody will buy it?

I don't know. Isn't a temple recommend question?

I generally thought that going to the media about a bishop's prayerful inspired decision and complaining isn't considered sustaining your leader.
