Default Mette Ivie Harrison on "the impulse to cultism"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mette-..._9190028.html#

Some people are more prone to accept authoritarianism than others. These are the same ones that are more likely to be disillusioned as well. After all, everything is black and white. Right and wrong.

Obviously, I'm not prone to this. I've always been on the other end of this spectrum. At least, among those that have a testimony and are active. So much so that it's hard for me to relate to the persons that see things in such a "cultish" way.

BUT, that doesn't mean I'm not tribal.

Wow, from reading the comments I come away with the impression that angry ex-mormons are part of a very strong cult of their own, which is pretty ironic. Try to make any comment that isn't over the top negative toward the church and incur the wrath of the cult of ex-LDS.

yeah, they do tend to band together for support, and as an echo chamber.

The author of the piece was herself criticized by the orthodox as being....not friendly towards the church. That her book didn't paint the church in a good light. Her novel.
