Elder Packer taught that men are and ought to be dominant over women. I'll find the quote.

You're right Tex. We should discuss in another thread whether "dominant" means "superior".

Quote:
dom·i·nant Audio Help /ˈdɒmənənt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[dom-uh-nuhnt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective
1. ruling, governing, or controlling; having or exerting authority or influence: dominant in the chain of command.
2. occupying or being in a commanding or elevated position.

su·pe·ri·or Audio Help /səˈpɪəriər, sʊ-/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[suh-peer-ee-er, soo-] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective
1. higher in station, rank, degree, importance, etc.: a superior officer.
2. above the average in excellence, merit, intelligence, etc.: superior math students.
3. of higher grade or quality: superior merchandise.
4. greater in quantity or amount: superior numbers.
5. showing a consciousness or feeling of being better than or above others: superior airs.
6. not yielding or susceptible (usually fol. by to): to be superior to temptation.
7. higher in place or position: We moved our camp to superior ground.
I think the definitions are very similar. They both mean "elevated" and "higher".

You were sure quick to pounce on what you considered false doctrine. Of course these days, I don't hear GAs saying it is the natural order for the man to be dominant, although we do get a strain of that when we hear that men should make decisions in consultation with women and children.

When men are expected to hold virtually all positions of leadership, and are expected to be the final word in group decisions, it's hard to argue that men are not dominant and superior, when you are an outsider looking in.

Ok, done with subject.

I think what Packer meant and what you are implying are different things.
