But you have to remember that I don't see things in binary like you do.

And why do you keep characterizing it as plagiarism? What about cases in the NT where Paul or Jesus quoted from the Greek Septuagint, neglecting the more accurate original Hebrew text?

I don't see that as an inherent conflict, especially in light of how difficult it is to render into English the words of a foreign tongue. In fact, if that is what JS did, I find ingenious and efficient.

I'm going to weigh in on some of these points, but it'll be this afternoon. I have a lecture waiting for me!

Guess what mullahs?

Further examination of the original BoM transcript reveals that Amilicites and Amalekites are actually the same people.

Guess SE Robinson was right in saying that "as far as it is translated correctly" applies to the BoM too.

He certainly was. Have you taken notice of Royal Skousen's BoM critical text project, CC? He's supposed to go into the Amlicite/Amalekite issue in some detail.

no, I haven't, does it go beyond what's in the article?

Guess what apostates?

Seems a little presumptuous of Robinson to modify the 8th Article of Faith, but in any case, this is not a new concept. One of the Book's principal authors said as much. Mormon 8:12; 9:31, 33.

It's supposed to go into more detail about Oliver's handwriting, instructions to the printer, and so on. The article you posted summarizes Skousen's project in this regard, but I'm starting to think that Skousen's project is worth reading (he hasn't finished yet, but some of his work is out there).

How presumptuous of Mormon to violate the 8th AoF.

Who are you referring to as "apostates?" Do you really think we're not aware of the passages you cited? Seriously? I, for one, had them in mind when reading the post.

And no one's claiming Robinson is modifying the 8th AoF (that is, unless you think he's trying to sneak his own version into a new edition of the scriptures or something?)

And no one's claiming it's a "new concept."

Maybe you need a vacation, Tex?

At least you could tone down the contempt, the knee-jerk condemnation, and the wild attributions. We're having a nice thread here. Need I remind you that this is in the religious studies forum?
