Isn't one of the purposes of this life to figure out how to get along with one another and to "love thy neighbor as thyself"? Segregation is an institutionalized thumbing of the nose to that fundamental Christian concept.

That's theory, not reality. Ever been visitied by missionaries from the Baptist's. They don't believe in your fundamental Christian concept.

I think too many people believe the "love they neighbor as thyself" concept means, make your neighbor like you so you can love them.

I thought the purpose of religion was to try to make the theory (be ye therefore perfect) a reality.

True, but don't you think if there is a group in the religion that think they are perfect, it makes it harder on those who know they aren't to work with them.
