It does prompt an interesting issue, though: how much instablility in Iraq would bleed into instability in other regions? How much instability in the Middle East can we afford with our current addiction to oil?

The faster we break the oil habit, the better off we are. How we ever pegged our future to that part of the world is beyond me.

I agree with you there.

Let them beat themselves to death and then we prop someone up that lets us have the oil that we need.

But you are right. We are addicted to it.

I can't wait until the day that we can run cars off of corn. And the only oil we rely on is for the engine. Not the fuel tank.
