No sex outside of the Celestial Kingdom?
Why not?

I'm not sure I buy this particular tidbit of Mormon speculative doctrine.
The terms "Eternal lives" and "eternal increase" are commonly defined in Mormonism to mean "having children after the resurrection". I'm not sure I really even buy that definition; however, assuming that definition is true, the assumption that the mechansim whereby one has children with a resurrected body is the same as the mechanism whereby one has children with an earthly body could very well be a faulty assumption. We're having sex now (well, at least some of us are) and we're certainly outside of the Celestial kingdom. According to D&C 76:89, the glory of the Telestial Kingdom "surpasses all understanding". I find it hard to believe that in a place whose glory "surpasses all understanding" we wouldn't be able to experience something at least as glorious as our currently glorious earthly sex. |

So that means, your vision of the telestial and/or terrestrial kingdom is: glorious sex, but no kids, and no responsibility for creating worlds and stuff. What's the downside?

I'm not trying to be intentionally obtuse here, but why does there have to even be a downside? We know very little about what will be happening in the Celestial kingdom and we know even less about what it will be like in the non-Celestial kingdoms. Thus, the honest answer to the question of what will be happening in the non-Celestial kingdoms is simply "we don't know". That's why I don't necessarily buy that little tidbit of doctrinal speculation that many other Mormons commonly believe. |

Our dog got hit by a car on Sunday. We buried her in the yard. Of course this brought on the inevitable question from our 7-year-old: Is Blackie (the kids named her) in heaven? You know...what do you do? Do you go with the grown-up answer or just tell the kid what he wants to hear? So, Michael thinks Blackie is in heaven, and we decided not to argue with him. |
