Default What day did Jesus die?

Jesus was put on the cross on a Friday wasn't he? The reason they were going to break his leg is because they couldn't keep him on the cross on the sabbath.

Then he rose on the 3rd day... Saturday, Sunday, Monday... Why is Easter on Sunday?

I'm confused...

THis cite claims that he died on Wednesday and was resurrected sometime after 6 pm Saturday or 4 am Sunday morning. Anytime after Saturday evening would be considered Sunday.

Hope I did the link correctly.

I believe that the 3 days did not mean 3 periods of 24 hours. I think that his death and burial on Friday is counted as 1 day, even though it was only part of a day.

I've been taught at in Jerusalem back then, time was kept as SteelBlue described: the day of death being the first day.

He was crucified on a Friday. The Jewish day begins at sundown, and therefore, the Sabbath begins at sundown on Friday evening.

Jesus said he would rise on the THIRD day, not after THREE days. Sunday is the third day, but not three days after.

This is what I've always interpreted it to be.
