Probably true, I just can't help but wonder how much direction from the first presidency was actually given to the organizers of the protect marriage ppl.

My guess is that they took the short letter that was read in sac meeting and turn it into full blown support of the church, where any disagreements immediately call your testimony into question.

this is exactly what happened where i live -- except that the area authority seventies were involved -- and there was also the fireside with apostles -- and even a thank you note read last week from apostles.

but, in end, the please participate if you can and want to -- got turned quickly into "you are unworthy of Jesus/Church/membership/etc if you don't" by a few. and by a few, i mean most.
