Can BYU win this weekend?
I still don't know what this Cougar team is going to do. So much hope, but I have not seen anything yet that tells me they will be great. Throw the BC and EIU games out the door, this week will tell us if this team will be any good.

You're more than happy to predict the outcome of a Utah game
but just can't do it for your beloved Cougars?
You're no Y fan. Just a Ute hater. Why should I be surprised?

Agreed...
This week will be telling. Based on the fact that TCU got spanked by SMU, yes, BYU can (and should!) win this week. time will tell...

The fact that TCU was beaten by SMU means nothing. Every team has a let-down week. Lets not forget that they also have quality wins against UU and OU. I hope to heck you're right. but I would hardly say that BYU "should" win based on those facts. |

The Top 6 in the MWC look essentially equal to me (that's assuming we're part of that, which we'll understand a lot better tomorrow, but I think it's the case based on last year's team). I think it'll end up like a basketball season -- the best team's going to win all its home games against the other 5 and whoever can steal a win on the road is going to take the whole thing.
The thing that worries me is that I'm guessing there will be a lot of close games between those six teams and it seems like the team with the better leadership, better confidence, and better poise is going to have the advantage in those situations. I don't think anyone here has seen any significant leadership, confidence, or poise from the Y since 2001. That's why CB's remarks don't bug me: at least he's confident. Probably *stupidly* confident, but I'll take what I can get. o |
