Default Brandon Davies not drafted

Will soon hear what team he signs a free agent contract with. Will try and make a roster. That's the thing that I will be following.

Dellavedova was signed to the Magics summer league team.

Still nothing on Davies.

"partially guaranteed" one year deal with the Clippers.

If he made the roster, that would be incredible for him. May end up in D-league.

Lack of explosive athleticism is probably what hurt him. Too small to play the 5, not athletic enough for the 4. His vertical was only 28 inches or so.

But he does have skills. So let's see if skills translates to making a team and seeing the floor. Jeremy Lin was a guy who was not suited to looking good in workouts, but knows the game of basketball. That's what everyone like Brandon Davies is hoping for.

I respect him as a player. Let's hope good things work out for him.

Davies is on the Sixers now. I watched him yesterday against the Mavericks. His first bucket was when he posted up Dirk down low on the block. A few slick moves, and he had a bucket off the glass. Must be nice to school a hall of famer like that (of course, Dirk won't be be going to the HoF based on his defense). And Davies had another similar bucket later against a different defender. He did brick a 15 footer from the free throw line off the backboard.

He looked a little tentative out there. He also didn't look like a great defender. But what stood out the most was his foot speed. He doesn't have any. He looked very slow and unathletic. While you saw that in college, it really stands out in the NBA. He looks like a guy with bad knees, even though I suppose his knees are just fine. It's just the same effect.

But good for him that he is getting some playing time and working to make a contribution.
