A&W. Hands down, no questions asked. Great in the can, wonderful in the frosty mug.

IBC is great as well; the restraint upon quantity imposed by the bottle is unfortunate. Mug is next. I'll drink Barq's if there's no other root beer available, but I'll be thinking about A&W.

That's why you need to by two bottles and pour it into a mug.

I forgot to mention Hire's. Love that stuff.

But the quantity is still limited. Knowing there's another cup on its way once you've finished the last drop is a feeling like a warm blanket. Love is supposed to be endless. How can you enjoy that last kiss from the bottle, knowing it will be your last?

When we go eat, let me choose the restaurant, you might choose McDonald's based on your selection of Root Beer.

I would not weep should McDonald's cease to exist. But never have I chanced to meet a meal that was not nor would have been enhanced by a frosty mug of Allen and Wright's finest.

This conversation should be put into perspective. Root Beer is what you drink until your parents let you have caffeine. It's a child's drink. Cola is where real carbonated pleasure lies (and there is no debate that Coke is the finest cola in the land).

I graduated to Cock-n-Bull Ginger Beer, thank you very much.

Not even caffeine's lure can lead me away from the sweet seduction of a frosty mug of A&W. To be without root beer is to wonder if you will ever love again.

Just tried the Abita. Nowhere near as good as Henry Weinhard's in my opinion. I really like the honey in the Weinhard's.

Abita tastes more like A&W, but with cane sugar instead of corn syrup.
