Picks a VP whose last name, when placed behind his name and read quickly, causes the two to morph into Osama bin Laden.

And now, a brother who lives in Africa which is extremely close to the Middle East. Much closer than Arizona.

I wasn't gonna vote for the guy anyway, but now I'm really not gonna.

As I've stated many times and in many places I only discriminate on the basis of economic status. I hate poor people and Obama doesn't appear to be poor so we appear to be cool there.

Where we're not cool is his involvement with Islamic terrorism.

Regarding Mitt, we had two folks here who worked with him during the Olympics. One told me she saw Mitt go off on an F-bomb laden tirade, the other started to relate some stories, then caught herself (as a PR pro) saying "....let's just say he's not who you think he is." One worked with him on the Olympic committee, the other involved in some logistical management.

In terms of elitism, how many folks do you work with who aren't elitist, to some extent or another? Unless you drive trucks or work in a bakery, you're striving to become elite, that's the American ambition.

For that matter, a huge chunk of the LDS world is striving to become an LDS elite, ala big house on the hill, leadership increasingly vertical in the hierarchy, be one of the "select", have your kids have multiple high-society spousal options, go to BYU, earn millions, etc.

That's elitism, ain't it?

Elitism is not simply seeking success. Elitism is an attitude. It is the belief that your opinion matters more because you are smarter, or wiser or more able than others. It is the belief that the masses are asses and you are not of the masses and must guide them, help them, lead them to a better world and a better life, even if they disagree and reject your approach. It is SU feeling the urge to help us deceived believers, because he knows better and we are simply unable to figure it out for ourselves.

My grandfather drove a delivery truck for a bakery, BTW, and he was definitely not an elitist, but he strived to achieve as much as he could for his family as long as he lived.

Mitt Romney seems to me like exactly the type of guy capable of launching an F-bomb laden tirade if somebody screws up.

It's funny to me that anybody would be surprised by that.
