P.S. Ira Fulton wouldn't know Ty Detmer from Richard Simmons.

All they have to cover this is $50M in tithing. They get $50M from Ira Fulton. They use the tithing to build the temples. They use Fulton's money for BYU athletics. They pass on the media campaign. Tell me with a straight face church funds are not used for BYU athletics.
There is no straight face emoticon.

Ira Fulton isnt even BYU's #1 athletics donor. Perhaps this is why you are confused.

You propose opinion as fact. Achtung.

jay is confirming my long held suspicion that the church uses "funny washington math" accounting principles in order to claim that no tithing monies are used for the athletic's program. now, all i need is to figure a way to perform an audit and i'll be able to say "gotcha!"

Fact. BYU receives a lot of $ through donations that the church could use for different purpose. That's the only fact you need to have.

LDS church is way too smart to do something that wouldn't hold up under accounting audit.

Why audit? jay seems to have an intricate knowledge of the inner working of Church budgets and finances, at least as far as BYU goes.

Just ask him.

DDD: what do you think of these facts?

Fact. BYU drain on LDS church tithing is somewhere in the $500M per year range.

Fact. Value of LDS church tithing subsidy of 85 football scholarships > $1M per year.

One, I am not sure how you are defining the word "fact." While I dont necessarily disagree with your statement, I am in no position to assert it as fact. Have you seen the books?

Second, donations to BYU are separate from the AD. Why do you think the AD has set up programs like Coaches Circle? Because the AD needs to pay its own way...the Church is not footing that bill. it doesnt have to.

Once again I ask you, on what are you basing your claim? Or it is just your hunch?

The Church is now subsidizing the operating costs to run cougarguard.

That, plus a small subsidy from Ira Fulton.
