podrunner for biking
Okay, I have to be honest. This is not my tip, I borrowed it from Zulu, who posted it in chit chat.
This is the single greatest thing to ever happen to bike training. This guy creates these 1-2 hour mixes of music with the same bpm. So, you can use it to work on your cadence when you run or bike. Just pick whichever bpm you need. I don't have an ipod so I stream it through my laptop (which works great for the bike trainer but I don't recommend it for jogging). The music has made the bike trainer way less mindnumbing for me. http://www.djsteveboy.com/mixes.html ps. it's free. I forgot that part. Last edited by BarbaraGordon; 01-24-2007 at 04:25 AM. I love it too. I can't stand that music outside of exercising, but during exercise it's phenomenal.

I exercise without music, but I do have some ipod sunglasses. It has a bunch of Led Zep and other good stuff.

I can see it now - you, running through the quiet streets of Norman, laptop in hand, "We Built This City" blaring through the computer speakers.....

It turns out, if you switch arms every so often, you get a great biceps workout. But I have to warn you...every once in a while, some dolt will see you running and assume you stole the laptop. So then they start chasing you down shouting, "stop thief!!" It draws all this uncomfortable attention, but it's a great opportunity to work on your speed. Let me know if you need any other pointers. |

I understand what you're saying. People are always chasing me - down the street, through the mall, hither and yon; IOW, everywhere I go. While in high school, it happened so often that my friends - who had to escape the masses as well - gave me the nickname Thigh. Thigh is an acronym for what people were always yelling at me. People would see me, point and yell "There he is! Get him!" True story.

Fortunately, our safetys are used to being outrun so I figure he didn't take it too hard. |

Hey, IPU, you never told us if you got your trainer. Have you joined the ranks of the bored indoor riders?

Not yet. I've braved the cold and went out for rides; however, I'm probably going to get one this weekend.
