I am looking to buy a new bike (finally)

Because of where I live my two options for a bike are a Giant OCR1 and a Trek 1200.

The Giant is a 10 speed with 105 componants throughout. the Trek a 9 speed with 105, but a Tiagra front derailler.

Having a hard time deciding what to do. It is a lot of money to spend on a bike, for me that is.

Ten speeds will stay in, so based on that alone, I'd choose the Giant. Both big companies.

I like the Giant personally.

Is that a standard crankset on that thing? It seems like a 30/39/50 crank is not the norm for a triple, but more along the lines of 30/42/53, or something like that.

With a 50 tooth big ring and only a 12 on the cassette, you might miss something a bit bigger on the downhill or in a paceline, but the climbing gears should be able to take you anywhere you want to go, with a 30/25 combo, even in a mountainous area near where you live.

Most guys I know really like the geometry of the the Giant compact frame. Aluminum is fine, imo, as I've ridden both aluminum and steel and like each one.

Looks like a solid bike. 105 components will do fine for a lot of miles as well.
