A mount for my Garmin Nuvi - cougarguard.com — unofficial BYU Cougars / LDS sports, football, basketball forum and message board

I'd like to put a mount for my Nuvi on my mountain bike. I found a handlebar mount for the Nuvi made by Garmin, but I have concerns about how secure it will be since it uses zip ties.

Does anyone have some suggestions for a good mount for my Nuvi to my mountain bike?

I hope your Nuvi mount is strong and protective. When I was riding Mtn. bikes, if I didn't crash like 2-3 times per ride I wasn't riding hard enough.

I don't yet have a mount for it, but the point of asking the question is to hopefully have someone recommend one that is strong and protective.

I don't plan on being so aggressive that I'm wrecking 2-3 times per ride, but the occasional wreck is inevitable.

Sorry, can't help you Yardtime. For me there is no way that I would take a $350 GPS unit on my mountain bike. Between the crashes and the vibration on a bumpy downhill, it seems likes too much of a risk of losing or breaking the darn thing.

Ok that's a pretty valid point. I think I'm still going to do it though. I'll probably just use the GPS en route to and from the trails I want to ride and then pack it safely away in the camel back or something.

I found a motorcycle mount I think I like that may work well here:

I got a mount for my GPS that is actually similar to the one McQuirk posted. The thing is very secure. It doesn't move at all when I'm riding. I haven't taken a spill with it, but provided I don't go down hard I'm not worried about it at all. It's nice to have something tracking my mileage, speed, etc.
