Indeed, He has chosen you and not versa visa. Your strong shoulders will help to one day bring to pass the greater enlightenment you wish to see.

I totally agree with the title of this post. Why would you say something so stupid?

unfortunately I have an uphill battle. I however, am garnering an army whose principles will be based on the astute wisdom cougarguard's own Solon.

I think you're in the wrong religion dude.

Try a mainline church. You might not get that many social benefits, but to you they're not worth the cost anyway. Stay away from Pentecostals, Mormons; they'll work you to death.

Seemed to me you were more interested in the Church leaving other people alone or digging on BYU, because for somebody advocating mutual indifference you seem very concerned for the aforementioned young lady as you interjected your opinion as to what is better for her.

I forgive you, you were raised mormon and try as two utes and you may to be the rebelious borderlander advocating less ecclesiastical involvement, your eternal destiny and future is better personified by tooblue, God bless him!

the thing was that I wasn't digging on byu. I was pointing out that her education at Michigan is going to be far better than byu. Her family and herself knows what best for her. If they said we should send tell her to go to Utah I still would have said they were stupid. I don't want the bishop to say anything to her.

You got me at free and near Dad.

I understand Michigan has some great grad programs and given the money involved, it probably has some good undergrad programs, but isn't Michigan really distinguishable based on its undergraduate program?

People say that all the time, "Michigan is better than Utah," as if it's a foregone conclusion. Isn't academic ranking more based on a program by program basis?

Michigan is in the top 3 of public universities (yes that includes undergrad). Is there a reasonable person who would say that byu undergrad is better than Michigan undergrad... geez you people are killing me

To be honest I don't really care, but my guess is that the folks who think it would be better for her at BYU are not making that evaluation based upon academic rankings. They probably think that the environment at BYU would be helpful in sustaining her testimony. That logic excludes any academic consideration whatsoever and demonstrates why BYU, as an academy, is and will always be far more superior as a developmental institution than piddly "universities."

However, I will say this much if the girl is interested in going to BYU I think BYU should show favoritism towards individuals like this over a kid from American Fork who might have a more impressive academic resume. I think the Kingdom gets more bang for the buck.

I really don't know if BYU or Michigan is better as an undergraduate institution. Further, I don't think it matters very much. What will matter is her performance.
