I think President Hinckley's comments on men becoming Gods could also apply to a literal gathering of the Saints to Missouri. Sure, it has been taught in the past, but "I don't know that we teach it. I don't know that we emphasize it."
No, I don't think normal members would get that excited about investment in Jackson County because from what I understand the church has already bought land in JC and the excitement is minimal.

Now if Monson gets up in GC and says "The Lord has spoken to me: we are to build Zion in Jackson County as prophesied by Joseph Smith, prophet, seer, and revelator." Well, yes, I think a lot of people would get excited.

Do you see an old style prophet rising up from organizational types?

I don't.

No grand pronouncements are in order until calamity strikes.

I'll be happy to start small: let's ditch the boy scouts.

It's probably the same relative as mine. In any event, go back to talking about how patriarchs are glorified mentalists.

I love how we are given stories of the brave, righteous souls that supposedly made such a difference in the decision making from those that have no interest in making a difference whatsoever.

Oh, wait, I forgot -- they posted in this incredibly relevant forum!

Obama's next Supreme Court nominee could potentially grant your wish.

If God had worked 100 or so years ago, maybe Robert Baden-Powell could have married his male lover and we never would have had a Boy Scouts!

You think I'm getting ready to stone and slay the prophets huh? I don't even live in Utah.
