Blacks have higher mortality rates for
most diseases, than whites.
The two exceptions in the article I am reading are: 1) pulmonary dis 2) suicide It's interesting that racism is used as a reason why blacks die more frequently from disease (less options, poorer neighborhoods, diagnosis bias)--but for some reason it doesn't translate to more suicide. I have no idea why. |

Maybe because the persons who would have died via suicide have already died off by other means.
Maybe because the social conditions conducive to suicide are not as prevalent in black society?
