I haven't used that term since I was a kid. But we used it to describe a game we'd play during lunch a lot back in high school. It was 21 but with no rules. You'd try to get a rebound or a loose ball and run for your life, shooting a wild shot hoping it would go in before you get clothes lined. We called it jungle ball but I never made the connection to black/inner city BB. I thought the jungle part was a reference to an actual jungle and the dangers you find there.

My parents would never let me use that term so we called it "Doorbell ditching"

It came from the same place that n*lipping, n*rigging, n*rich, etc. came. Colorful expressions from yesteryear.
