Default Don't believe Hall needed this

To be in the same crowd as Covey, Lindsley and Engemann isn't a compliment.

No guarantee, but it can be indicative.

In this case, I tend to think it isn't. This is Bronco's first chance to break in a new QB, so comparing him to QBs from a different era, with a different coach may be 'fun', but it doesn't tell us anything.

I watched the Timpview/Lone Peak football game a few weeks ago. LP had a QB named Steve Lindsley and a QB named M. Sean Covey. I was told that both were sons of the former BYU QB's.

Did either show any ability?

If I recall correctly, Sean Covey, prior to his mission, was considered a special recruit, but simply lacked arm strength at the college level. Lindsley just wasn't cut out to be a college QB.

Lindsley was a JC transfer. JC QB transfers, IMO are an even bigger crapshoot than RM QBs, especially JC RM QBs, IYKWIM.

Sarkisian is our only JC transfer that has panned out.

And he was so heads and shoulders better than virtually any JC QB that I can think of. His last year in JC, he had a pass efficiency in excess of 200.

Lindsley started the game but was terrorized by the TV defense and left after about a quarter (one of the TV defensive ends had four sacks in the first half alone). By halftime, LP was on their third or fourth QB. But for some reason, Covey never saw any action that I recall. It was a slaughter. LP is not a good team this year.

On the other hand, TV is outstanding again. They may have as many as seven players go D1. Including several already committed to BYU. Kevin Bills (LB) and Craig Bills (safety) have both committed and both are having stellar years. They are the younger brothers of K.C. Bills. Both were all state last year, Craig being the only sophomore all-state selection. The other day Kevin was chasing down a QB on a sweep and the RB set up to block him. Kevin pushed (threw?) the RB into the QB and tackled them both at the same time. It was beautiful. They had a couple of semi-competitive games at the first of the year but not they are just destroying teams.
