Default Hey anti-Wikipedia'ers, here's one for ya

Cali Coug's post about Monson made me curious when Harold Lee was called as an apostle. I Googled, and of course Wikipedia was among the first results.

The section on "Service in the LDS Church" contains just seven short paragraphs, half of which is back-and-forth on his role in maintaining the priesthood ban. For a man who served as an apostle for 30 years, it seems like a pretty foolish distortion to spend half of an already too-short entry on such a peripheral issue.

So if you need an example of a badly distorted Wikipedia entry, there you go.

You're out of touch, Tex. One paragraph out of 7 is not half, and it doesn't feel unbalanced in any way.

PS I love wikipedia.

In Texipedia, the priesthood ban would never be mentioned anywhere.

Actually, I guess there's really only two. It just seemed like the theme of the latter half, since it's mentioned twice. The second time seems quite out of context.

I disagree, though, that it's not unbalanced. And I'm actually a Wikipedia-fan too. Be careful though, you might send Cali Coug postal by saying so.

If denying an entire race the blessings of the priesthood was the biggest mistake I ever made in my life, I would have considered myself to have lived a charmed life.

You know, for someone who accuses me of being nothing but argumentative, you have been antagonistic in every single response you've ever made to me.

You don't have to try so hard to be a jerk, it seems to come naturally.

The entry seems fine to me. I think you're over-sensitive to the issue.

I fail to see what you're talking about here. Do you dispute what's written or do you just think there was too much focus on that one issue? Seeing as it's one of the most discussed issues re: the history of Mormonism I think it warrants all the mention it got.
